The Possible You demonstrates how our minds prevent us from being who we really are. Early childhood programs taught us how to think in fearful or imbalanced ways. Now we can learn how our minds actually work, and how we can use our minds to achieve anything we wish.

Endorsements

"Charlie Frost is a metaphysical pixie. He combines ancient knowledge with modern technology, sharing tools for everyday usage to us all." Rev. Chad O'Shea, Arden, NC

"It always bothered me that the concept of metaphysical mirrors has us seeing in others what was within us. Your explanation of Belief Systems being the internal mirror, we see WHAT WE BELIEVE, NOT WHAT WE ARE, has given me great Peace of Mind." C.S., Dallas, TX

"Mr. Frost has taken great care to emphasize to the reader how we create our experiences by the words we use, our predetermined attitudes and also through the dependency we have developed of relying on others' opinions and attitudes." Rev. Richard Ammons, Lansing, MI

"If there is a failure in our life and religion, it is due to our having been looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place and missing the glory that was all about us waiting to be revealed by the light of our understanding, the light of the spirit." Dr. Littlefair, The Glory Within You

Excerpt

The problem with Belief Systems is that we believe them, and, more often than not, we are unaware of where any given Belief comes from or how we got it. To illustrate this, please consider a story: The Saga of the Boneless Ham.

A man and his wife have their three grown children in for Easter dinner. Every year, they have a large boneless ham as part of this dinner. This year, the man is in the kitchen helping prepare the meat, and he notices his wife cuts off both ends of the ham before she cooks it. One quarter of the ham is in the trash before it is ever cooked. After the meal is over, the kids are gone, and they are cleaning up, he turns to his wife and asks, "Honey, how come you cut off both ends of the ham and threw them out before you cooked it?"

She stops ... pauses ... and ponders on it for a few moments, before she answers, "Well, that's the way my Mother always did it."

At Thanksgiving, they have dinner at her Mother's, and there on the table is a large turkey, and a big boneless ham, with both ends cut off.

After the meal, he goes up to his Mother-in-law and asks, "Mother, how come you cut off both ends of the boneless ham before you cooked it?"

She stops ... pauses ... and thinks about it for a minute or two, and answers, "Well, that's the way my Mother always did it."

Well, Grandma is still alive, and she's a modern kind of lady. She has her own condo in Vero Beach, Florida, and she has the whole family in every year between Christmas and New Year's. And, there on the table is a gigantic roast beef, a huge turkey, and a large boneless ham, with both ends cut off.

Later, he goes up to her and asks, "Grandma, how come you cut off both ends of the boneless ham before you cooked it?"

Without a moment's hesitation, she answers, "It's the only way it fits in the pan."

The point of this story is much of what we learn, we learn indirectly, without really knowing the reason we are doing what we are doing. When we are young, messages are sent, messages are received, and we are totally unaware of either happening. The result is we often end up with Beliefs which we have no idea of the concept behind.

What makes this even harder to deal with is the fact that most people have a Belief System in place by the time they turn five years old. Adler takes it even further by stating most people never change their Belief System once they get; they only adapt it to different circumstances This means most of us are walking around with Belief Systems we got twenty, thirty, or more years ago.

Is this the way we want to spend the rest of our lives?
